Through Solidarity, We Survive - Berlin
Through Solidarity, We Survive, Collective Exhibition, Udk Konzertsaal & Berlin City Campaign, Berlin
This campaign, in collaboration with CoCulture, the Artist Training Program at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), and international festivals in Oslo, focused on raising awareness about the rise in domestic violence during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The campaign featured posters exhibited during UK's annual showcase in Berlin on June 17, 2020, and later as part of a public space campaign. In Oslo, it was part of the Oslo International Festival from October 27 to November 1, 2020.
The Message
Since the lockdowns, domestic violence has increased globally. In countries like Syria, war and poor social conditions have worsened the situation, and there's often no support for women. As an artist from the Middle East, I aimed to draw attention to this issue through these posters, especially highlighting the voices of women suffering in isolation.
Background
COVID-19 revealed deep weaknesses in our social systems and brought attention to the importance of culture and art. Artists and cultural producers have a key role in providing alternative spaces for dialogue and addressing these challenges.
Through Solidarity, We Survive used art to promote solidarity, raise awareness about domestic violence, and support marginalized communities.
